August has been a fun month for new products! I ran out of quite a few things thanks to how often I was putting makeup on. So I had to replace things as well as find some additional products to help with some issues I’ve been having.
Colourpop Cosmetics The Child Palette
This one I got in July but completely forgot to feature in my review blog from that month. But like every other Colourpop palette I’ve tried, this one is absolutely stunning. The shimmers are all buttery and bright, the mattes blend beautifully and are extremely pigmented, and the whole vibe is amazing.
The packaging and shade names for this palete are Star Wars themed, which is a huge plus for your resident nerd. And the packaging was adorably designed. It’s a joy to use.
Color story wise, this is perfect for me. I use a lot of green eyeshadow, and this has a great mix of greens with a few brown/gold shades to balance it out.
Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Conditioner
Thanks to some ill advised hair dye, I fried the ends of my hair. So I’m using moisturizing conditioners to help keep my hair from being frizzy and tangly. I have tried this one, and it’s not terrible. It does moisturize my hair, but I’m not sure it’s actually getting into the hair and nourishing it.
It also seems to be a little bit too heavy for my fine hair. So I’ll probably not buy this again, though it’s not a bad product. Just not one that works for me!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer
I decided to give this a try because it reminds me of my holy grail moisturizer. However, it doesn’t work quite as well. It’s definitely moisturizing and works decently on my skin, but the texture is a little bit greasier than I like.
It’s one I’d buy in a pinch but it’s not my preference. It’s still lightweight and sinks completely into the skin, and you need very little. A trial sized container lasted me about a month.
Overall a solid product, but not my favorite.
Makeup Revolution Vitamin C Eye Cream
This one surprised me! I think it may be my new holy grail. This eye cream goes on easily and is super moisturizing, but the vitamin c is doing some work on my dark circles. The brightening is slowly starting to lighten them up a bit.
You don’t need much, and the packaging is really nice. It’s a simple pump and you don’t need a full pump for both eyes. Definitely a new favorite product!
elf Cosmetics Bite Sized Face Palette in Spiced Apple
I’ve wanted to try these since they came out! This particular duo is a dark bronze highlighter with a soft, orangy blush. I’ve never had a blush this shade before and it’s a perfect fall tone.
The highlighter is a little bit dark for my skin, but for $3 I can’t complain. The pigment is great, though I have to really dig in to get it on my brush – almost like it was pressed into the pan too tightly. But in general, I like this and will likely get more shades in the future!
Marc Antony Grow Long Leave In Conditioner and Detangler
When my conditioner didn’t work as expected, I grabbed a leave in conditioner to use after my shower and keep my hair from being super frizzy. This one is absolutely amazing and at $8 it’s surprisingly affordable! It detangles really well, even though I usually wait and brush my hair in the morning after my shower.
I usually spray some in my hands and work it into wet hair and it sinks into my hair while I’m asleep. Overall a great product and I’d recommend!
Revlon ColorStay Brow Fiber Filler in Brown
This is a really great brow gel! I haven’t had great luck with tinted brow gels from the drugstore, but this one is doing a good job of checking all of my boxes. It’s long lasting, has a nice brush, and isn’t in such a small container that I have to buy a new one every 2 weeks.
It also is a good match for my natural hair color, which is kinda hard to get in the drugstore thanks to having a cool toned dark hair. I’d definitely buy this one again!
Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
