Battle of the Dupes: Huda Beauty vs Wet N Wild!

Welcome back! I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for great drugstore dupes. As nice as it feels to spend money on something, why bother spending a bunch of money if you can get it cheaper and look the same?

When I purchased the Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit lipstick in Rebel Rose, I had no idea it was a potential dupe for my Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Trophy Wife. But when I was swatching lippies to see what would match a look I created one morning, I swatched them next to each other and they looked so similar!

(PSA- by the time I wrote this I realized I’d given away my Wet n Wild lippie. So stock pictures it is. However, the Huda Beauty one is nowhere NEAR this pink in person.)

Color/Finish

As you can see from the image above, the colors of these are very similar. They’re both a dark, dusky rose shade that works with any number of looks. It’s one of my favorite pinky nude shades! The color was my first thought to try them next to each other as dupes. And they’re both matte lipsticks!

Comfort

Both lipsticks go on smoothly, but the Wet N Wild dries down faster. However, Wet N Wild dries out my lips a lot more than the Huda lipstick. Even with chapstick the Wet N Wild one gets painfully dry and cracked very quickly. The Huda lipstick is super comfortable all day!

Price

The Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipsticks cost around $20 each. The Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit lipsticks are only $5.25! There’s a very clear winner in this category, especially if you are on a budget.

Staying Power

Unfortunately, this shade of that range of Wet N Wild lipsticks has no staying power. It dries out my lips, and leaves them dry, but to make it all worse it doesn’t even stay on. It’s got some of the worst staying power of any matte lipstick. Even if I don’t eat or drink it just disappears. All I can say is that the shade wears down gracefully. On the other hand, the Huda lipstick will stay on all day. If I drink something (once it’s dry), it will stay. If I eat something, I’ll have to touch up but not completely reapply. The staying power of this product is fantastic!

Final Thoughts

Clearly, the Huda Beauty Lipstick gets the win in this situation. Between comfort and staying power, this lipstick has the better formula for sure.

Now, does this mean that the Wet N Wild lipstick is bad? No. It may work extremely well for you and I hope it does! It’s only $5, so it might be worth trying. Particularly if you don’t have extremely dry lips. As you saw, the shades are exactly the same, so it may be worth your time to try the Wet N Wild one first if you don’t want to shell out $20 for one lipstick.

Have you tried either of these? Let me know how you like them in the comments!
