Best of 2020: Makeup

  • Post category:Makeup

Like everyone, my 2020 was not at all what I expected. I didn’t wear as much makeup as I usually do, so compiling this list was a little bit more difficult than I expected. However, makeup is always a great stress relief for me, so there were some cool new products tested still!

Without further ado, here are my top favorite products that I discovered in 2020!

Wet N Wild Megalast High Shine Lipstick

Wet N Wild has come out with some great products in the past couple of years, and still managed to keep their prices down. This lipstick is barely $3 a tube, yet it’s comparable to products that cost 4-5x that.

This comfortable, pigmented lipstick comes in an assortment of colors. Even though it’s high shine, it doesn’t move around on your lips, whether you wear lip liner or not.

Bellini Overflow, the shade I currently have, is an electric coral shade.

Ulta Beauty Tinted Eyeshadow Primer

After trying some new products from Ulta’s own brand, I discovered one of the best eyeshadow primers I’ve ever tried. If you have any pigmentation on your eyelids, or you want the most color out of your shadows, a tinted shadow primer is a great option.

This one is thin, but smooths out the color of your skin enough to make the shadows wear significantly better. It’s just sticky enough to make a good base, but not so sticky that it makes it hard to blend shadows.

L.A. Girl Ultimate Lip Intense Wear Lip Liner

After grabbing this lip liner on a whim in Relentless Red to match my Colourpop Lux Lipstick in Snow White, I discovered what a hidden drugstore gem it is.

The lip liner goes on smoothly in a thin twistable pencil. It doesn’t bleed when you eat or drink, and it actually drastically improved the wear time of an already long wear lipstick.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Though I initially didn’t like this powder, I ended up pleasantly surprised by how well it worked! It’s pressed very hard, and is a very fine powder. My first brush was too soft, which is why I didn’t originally think it worked very well.

The coverage is minimal, but it’s perfect for days when I’m wearing a lighter foundation or even a tinted moisturizer/CC Cream. If your skin is extremely dry this may not work well for you, but I have normal/dry skin and it works well on my skin with a moisturizing primer.

elf SRSLY Satin Lipstick

This was my best lipstick find in 2020 – no questions asked. These comfortable bullet lipsticks have a natural satin finish that actually stays on fairly well.

As far as pigmentation, they’re amazing – particularly for their $4 price tag! There are only about 10 shades or so, but they’re a nice range and hopefully they’ll keep releasing more shades.

I have three shades- a pale nude, a pumpkin spice brown, and a cool pink shade. All of them are highly pigmented, wear very well, and are extremely comfortable.

What do you think? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments.

And keep an eye out soon for the Best of 2020 Skincare post!
