Fall Lip Colors for Every Skin Tone!

  • Post category:Makeup

Ah fall, the time of sweaters, hot apple cider, and an abundance of warm, beautiful lip colors! Everyone needs a few gorgeous lip colors to wear this time of year. I’ve rounded up some for you guys so you can hopefully find something that suits your skin tone and preferences.

Maroon lipstick is one of my favorite colors to wear all year round. This shade range is great for those who don’t want to go quite as dark as a vampy plum colored lipstick, but you still want something dark and stunning for fall.

However, be careful with this color. The shade of it can be tricky for companies to create, so your tried-and-true formula might not be as good as expected in maroon shades.

Colourpop x Disney Lux Lipstick in Tiana

This color is universally flattering! It’s a smooth bullet lipstick at a drugstore price with a tiny bit of sheen in the finish. It’s a balanced maroon shade, so don’t worry about your undertones.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Voyager

This matte formula will stay on for hours. Voyager is a warmer maroon, leaning towards red-violet. It’s less universal than Tiana thanks to those undertones, it leans brown on warmer skin undertones. However, it’s super pigmented and looks stunning on a range of skin shades!

MAC Satin Lipstick in Media

This is another universally flattering bullet lipstick, but in a shinier formula than the other two mentioned. It’s also a luxury brand if you prefer those over drugstore I’ve never had any issues with MAC’s lipstick formula so I find this to be a good option.

Vampy Plum

These are the dark, purply shades that everyone thinks of when they think ‘fall lipsticks.’ These colors also carry over into winter really well! Vampy dark shades tend to look more dramatic on lighter skin tones, but still look beautiful on darker ones as well.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania

This is on my to-buy list. It’s a raved about plum lipstick in a gorgeous matte shade from the drugstore. Its deep berry shade looks beautiful on most skin tones. The pigment in it seems to be a bit lighter however, so darker skin tones might not get the color payoff that they want from this.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Material Girl

I’m a sucker for Huda’s liquid matte lipsticks. They dry down beautifully, have plenty of pigment, last all day, and smell amazing! If you’re looking for a more comfortable matte, this formula is the way to go. The color is beautiful as well, a deep plum shade.

Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip in Cherry on Top

A drugstore priced pick for those who don’t necessarily want a matte lipstick. Colourpop has some of the best quality for great prices that I’ve seen. Their lippies are amazing! And this color is a stunning, pigmented plum shade that will work across a wide range of skin tones.

Most shades of orange lipstick are stunning on darker skin tones! It’s a bright pop of color that feels very ‘pumpkin spice’ for the season. Lighter skin tones should be more careful of shades and undertones, though they can still pull off the stunning PSL(pumpkin spice latte) look.

Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Surfers Paradise

This is a bright orange shade that will pop on every skin tone- but particularly darker ones. It’s highly pigmented and the formula is on par with the rest of the Ofra lipsticks; a comfortable matte.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Juan

This is a lighter bright orange than the Ofra lippie above. A bit closer to a mellowed out highlighter orange shade. The pigment isn’t quite so intense either, so if you’re a bit on the darker side you might not like this one as much. It’s got a bit more brown in it than the Ofra one as well. It’s a great pick for extremely pale skin tones because it’ll still stand out.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Daytrip

And we’re back to Colourpop. The lippie stix formula is something like a matte crayon with a touch of moisture. This color is somewhere in between San Juan and Surfer’s Paradise. It’s definitely fairly universally flattering, but it’s not as bright as Surfer’s Paradise.

I definitely didn’t expect there to be so many Colourpop lipsticks, but you can tell what my favorite lipstick brand is! It also helps that they swatch their lipsticks on a range of tones. Which of these color families are you wearing this fall? Let me know in the comments!

P.S.- If you have any other recommendations, particularly for darker beauties, please let me know! I want to make sure my tips can be applied to all.
