Foundations for Dry Skin

Dry skin can make foundation searching difficult! Foundations need to be nourishing and not contain any kind of oil control. However, coverage level is important too! Some people love a lightweight foundation that looks like nothing on the skin, but others prefer a full coverage foundation that smooths and perfects the skin.

Here are a few great moisturizing foundations at an assortment of price points to try on your dry skin!

Maybelline FitMe! Dewy and Smooth

Coverage: Medium – buildable
Price: $6

This is a solid budget foundation option for everyday. It’s got a buildable formula and an unbeatable price. They have a pretty impressive shade range as well! One thing to consider is that if you use too much, you go from looking glowy to just looking super sweaty. You may want to powder this one.

BareMinerals BareSkin Pure Serum Foundation

Coverage: Light
Price: $30

This is a very lightweight foundation, and is intended to be a more like a BB or CC cream. It does have a moisturizing facial serum incorporated into it as well!

L’Oreal Infailable Fresh Wear Foundation

Coverage: Medium – buildable
Price: $12

This foundation is a great everyday foundation for anyone who wants moisture yet something long wearing! The Fresh wear foundation is a dewy, comfortable foundation that comes in tons of shades. It’s one of my favorite everyday foundations.

Clinique Moisturesurge CC Cream

Coverage: Light
Price: $39

As seems to be standard in very light coverage foundations, the shade range on this is a bit lacking. This is great for super dry skin, particularly if you prefer a very light coverage and need color correction!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Coverage: Light
Price: $9

And yet again, a somewhat lacking shade range, though the coverage is light enough that it’s probably workable. This one is essentially a tinted moisturizer, with skincare benefits to help hydrate dry skin.

Makeup Revolution Conceal and Hydrate Foundation

Coverage: Full
Price: $12

If you’re looking for a full coverage, hydrating foundation for a great price, this is a great option to try. It’s definitely comfortable and hydrating, but it’s completely full coverage. The shade range is solid as well.

Nars Natural Radiant Longwear

Coverage: Full
Price: $49

This foundation, though expensive, seems to be the real deal. It has a fairly great shade range, and coverage that will look flawless all day and night. A ‘your skin but better’ type of foundation that will keep your skin hydrated.

Ultimately, unless you have severely dry skin, you can make most foundations work with the right primer. But it’s a lot easier if your foundation has plenty of moisture in it as well.
