How to Keep Your Makeup On In Summer

Trying to keep makeup on in the summer can be a frustrating and often futile prospect. But there are ways to extend the life of your makeup past what you’d expect! If you’re having trouble keeping your makeup on in the hot, humidity of summer, try these tips!

Primers and Setting Sprays

Adding primers and setting sprays to your look can really increase its longevity. Primers give your foundation a base to sit on. Make sure you choose a primer that’s compatible with your skin type and your foundation. That will keep your foundation on, and it from separating.

Setting sprays glue down your makeup! It’s basically hairspray for your face. Go for oil control or long wearing setting spray. Some of the best include the new Huda Beauty Boss Babe setting spray and an oldie but goodie, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

Wear Less Makeup

I know, I don’t like this idea either. But if you can stand to do so, try wearing as little makeup as possible. Use tinted moisturizers and concealers instead of thick foundation, powder as little as possible, etc. Basically, go for a natural look!

Lighten Up Your Outfit

If you don’t really want to lighten up your makeup, lighten up your outfit instead! If wearing your hair down makes you sweaty, pin it up! Try to wear shorts or shorter skirts instead of jeans or leggings. Basically do what you can to avoid sweating in the first place.

Blotting Papers

These will save your life! These cheap papers allow you to blot away sweat and excess oil without disturbing makeup. I recommend the elf cosmetics ones, they’re $1 at target!

Try Waterproof Makeup

Some products that run when you sweat, such as eyeliner or mascara, can be swapped over to a waterproof formula to help prevent this issue. Just make sure you get a good makeup remover that can get waterproof makeup off without excessive rubbing.
