Over the course of the month of January, I’ve bought an assortment of products in random ones that I’ve been working with and trying. Instead of doing several posts with only one or two reviews, it made more sense to review everything at the same time.
Covergirl truBlend Contour Palette
I’d say this works okay. I don’t particularly like cream contour. The highlight is actually hard to use, and I don’t like the bronzer either. I mostly just use this to get actual contour on more glam makeup days. It’s a nice shade for that though, not dirty looking and light enough for my fair skin. So it’s okay, but not ideal. I think if I hadn’t gotten it on clearance I wouldn’t have thought it worth the money at all.
Maybelline Superstay Foundation in Porcelain
This is my new favorite foundation. I was worried because my skin tends toward dry, but this actually looks beautiful on my skin if I make sure to moisturize. I absolutely love it. It’s super full coverage, and doesn’t even really beg to be set. I absolutely love this shade, it’s my perfect foundation shade. It’s lightweight and smooth, and really reasonably priced too!
Covergirl Exhibitionist Lipstick in Creme
Okay this lipstick is absolutely awful. It’s just vaguely colored grease. The color of it is gorgeous, but the formula is awful. It’s super slippery and patchy on my lips, whether I put chapstick on or not. It settles into the lines of my lips and has absolutely no wear time. It’s not kiss proof or drink proof for sure. Just overall not a great formula or lipstick.
Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip in Coral
This was actually a fairly decent lipstick. It wasn’t drying, and it didn’t look bad on my lips. I’ve wanted to try this formula for a while and I’m overall pleased. The color is beautiful on this as well. It’s got a moussy texture that I’m a little bit iffy about thought. The pigmentation is beautiful throughout, and it just feels nourishing.
Maybelline Color Sensationals Metals in Silk Stone
Didn’t love this lippie. I’ve had some of these before, but this one is just so low on pigment. I think it’s supposed to be a metallic grey-brown shade, but it just looks like a sheen. I don’t hate it, but I don’t really use lip toppers so this isn’t something I’m going to use at all.
TheBalm The Manizer Sisters
Okay this is the best thing I’ve purchased in ages. I absolutely love it. What I find interesting is that this comes across like a highlight, blush, and bronzer instead of a highlighting trip. The Mary-Lou Manizer is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re looking for a natural highlight that can be built up, this is the highlight for you. It’s golden and buttery and the sheen is amazing. The Cindy-Lou Manizer was the one that I was the least impressed with. I used it as a blush and it didn’t have quite enough pigment to be a good blush. As a highlight it would be gorgeous though. And the Betty-Lou Manizer makes a beautiful glowy bronzer on my skin.
