Thanks to being really successful with my health and fitness goals in February and March, I rewarded myself with a bit of a shopping spree! In addition to the items below, I also grabbed a bundle of Ulta’s own branded products. So much came in the kit that I decided to hold off and review those products in a separate post!
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
So far, this is a pretty solid mascara. It holds curl well and gives me some nice length and volume. The wand is a fairly standard one without any odd shapes. It’s absolutely amazingly priced, and the quality for price ratio is absolutely stellar. It’s not my absolute favorite mascara ever, but it’s a great drugstore buy! It hasn’t flaked or transferred really badly (beyond the standard for a nonwaterproof mascara – about 7 or 8 hours). I would definitely repurchase this when I ran out!
elf Cosmetics Total Face Sponge
This is another product I’ve heard great things about but took forever to try. So far, I’m really impressed! The sponge gets absolutely huge, and is extremely soft and porous. The size can be a bit to get used to at first, particularly if you’re a beautyblender user, but the softness and coverage this sponge gave me convinced me to at least try working with it. Despite the porosity, it doesn’t absorb a bunch of product either. My base always looks flawless!
I Heart Revolution Tasty Peach Palette
I was really worried whether I would like this palette when I first saw it but holy crap! It’s absolutely gorgeous. It can be used for a range of looks. The true shimmers look almost wet on the lid. The satins actually have some shine to them. The mattes blend out so easily and there’s no patchiness. It is a palette of pressed pigments, so be careful of staining with some of the really vivid red-pink shades. I had a tiny bit of staining with Donut and Necatrine, even with primer. However, the pigment and blendability of these shades is more than worth it! And the price is great too!
The only note I have is that if you’re someone who likes to be able to get neutral looks out of a product, this isn’t for you. I’m not worried about it, but just to make sure everyone gets all the prepurchase info they need, I figured I’d let you guys know.
elf Cosmetics Putty Eye Primer
If you like tinted eyeshadow primers, this is a fairly solid choice. It evens out the tone of my eyelids but still looks completely invisible on the lid. Everything blends nicely on it, particularly if I don’t set it. One thing I don’t care for as much is that it’s extremely hard in the little jar. I have to really press on it to get any out – likely because the product comes out better when the warmth of your finger melts it slightly.
Whelp that’s that! First half of my Ulta Shopping Spree! Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
