Getting new makeup is always super fun! But everyone has those default products that they love more than any other and will use and repurchase. Those products can and do change, but often they do last for weeks and months at a time. Here are those products I’ve found myself reaching for constantly since I got them!
Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer
This bronzer is the one I reach for the most. It’s a nice mostly neutral bronzer, and it blends out beautifully. It looks great as a contouring bronzer without being too orange, even on my nose. It’s mostly matte, but there’s a tiny bit of glow in it to bring your skin to life.
My shade is the original, but they do have one lighter shade and a couple of darker shades as well.
It’s heavily fragranced, which I personally enjoy but you may not. It smells like summer! Very warm, a touch of coconut but not overwhelmingly so.
The packaging isn’t my favorite, it’s a bit bulkier than it needs to be and comes with a really weird applicator that doesn’t work. However, the product inside is beyond worthwhile.
Ulta Beauty Eyeshadow Primer in Nude Matte
Without a doubt, this is the best eyeshadow primer I’ve ever tried. It’s got just enough coverage that the dark areas on my eyelids are covered, but it’s not as heavy as a concealer would be.
It keeps the shadows in place without creasing and enhances the color significantly. You don’t need much either, so the tube lasts forever.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Natural
When I first got my hands on this, I hated it. I couldn’t get it to work! But I discovered that this powder requires a very stiff brush to work and ever since it’s my favorite powder!
I use this with light or medium coverage foundations to add that little bit of extra coverage and smooth everything out. It’s a simple, easy powder that looks great on all but the driest skin. It is a mattefying powder, so take that into account when you’re deciding whether to buy it.
elf Cosmetics SRSLY Satin Lipsticks
This formula is everything! It’s comfortable, stays well, and wears down nicely. They’re super pigmented too! Plus, it only costs $3. They’re a solid demi-matte formula.
One thing I’d love is more shades in this, but it’s got a decent spread including light nude, darker chocolate brown, cherry red, and plum.
Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlighter
This is my current favorite highlighter. It’s incredibly pigmented and glowy! I have several of them. This is a $5 highlighter and has a shade for everyone.
The highlighter lasts a long time on the skin, and is definitely not a natural glow sort of product. My favorite shades are Precious Petals (rose gold) and Blossom Glow (cool pink).
elf Cosmetics Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Flirty Birdy
elf has been killing it recently! These liquid glitter eyeshadows are, as far as I can tell, a great dupe for the Stila alternatives. They’re full color and extremely easy to apply.
They go on over your eyeshadow look easily without taking the shadow underneath off. It’s by far the most beginner friendly way to apply glitter to your eye look that I’ve found!
L.A. Girl Pro Conceal Concealer in Peach Corrector
As someone with extremely dark circles under their eyes, this stuff is a lifesaver. It’s a perfect peach corrector for my rather mid range dark circles that adjusts the skin tone so my concealer can do its job.
You only need just enough to cover your dark areas! Don’t over do it, or you’ll end up with very cakey under eyes.
elf Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer
This holy grail concealer is the best balance between hydration and extreme full coverage! As I mentioned, I have very dark circles. So I need full coverage concealer, even though my skin leans normal-dry. Concealers like Shape Tape don’t flatter my skin at all.
With an oversized doefoot applicator, you can apply as much or as little concealer as you need.
