September 2018 Product Reviews

September has been a good month for beauty! I’ve gotten a lot of products that I’ve wanted for a while on top of all of the subscription boxes that came in this month. I’m super excited about the products so let’s get going!

*beautyblender Pro

This wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. This came in my FabFitFun box and I was SO excited to get my first beautyblender. The main thing I’m glad of is that I didn’t spend the $20 on it. I really prefer my Real Techniques sponges! The shape and the feel is way better in my opinion. The beautyblender doesn’t give me very good coverage and doesn’t feel like it gets damp at all. I feel like the best way to use it is to use a brush to put my foundation on and then take this over it to ensure the streaks are gone. I want to like this sponge so badly but it’s just not my thing.

*Grown Alchemist Hydra-repair Day Cream

This product is amazing. I love the sweet, floral scent, first of all. Not too strong but just beautiful. It seems very expensive, but so far I’ve used very little. My dry skin stays moisturized all day, and I feel great when I put it on! I don’t feel sticky at all but also don’t end up super dry. I can’t say whether it’s worth the price yet because I don’t know how long it lasts. But overall I really like this product and am very happy to have a full sized tube!

*Crown Pro 6-pc. Brush Set

Can we just talk about how amazing Crown’s brushes are? Without a doubt these are the nicest brushes I have. I love them. The blending brush does a beautiful job blending out my shadow. The eyeshadow and concealer brushes are amazing for packing on pigment. The angled blush brush contours my cheeks and jawline like a dream. The tiny eyeliner brush is an ideal brush to use with my eyebrow gel. And the powder brush is so soft and amazing! That one is one of my favorite brushes in the set, followed closely by the blending brush. All of the brushes are soft and fluffy, leading to easy application of product. They feel great on my skin. And the divots in the brush where your fingers go are amazing! The brushes are all very luxurious and easy to use.

Colourpop Supershock Highlighter in Flexitarian

This highlighter is absolutely gorgeous. It’s got an amazing, buttery smooth texture and it just pops on the cheeks. This is a highlighter for someone who wants to glow from afar. It is super intense. The color is a light champagne shade, and isn’t super glittery. It’s an intense glow that’s neither chunky or gives you a physical glitter. It does take some getting used to with the formula, it’s a texture between a cream and a powder. Almost putty-like. I’ve found that fingers get the best pigment with these, but the right brush will work almost as well!

Stila Glitter and Glow liquid eyeshadow in Carefree

I’m still in a state of shock that I managed to find one of these in a TJ Maxx! It’s everything I hoped it would be. Carefree is a bright pink color that looks stunning on the lids. It goes on beautifully as a finishing touch to a look to give it some extra glam! I usually swipe it on and pat everything down with a flat eyeshadow or concealer brush to make sure it’s where I want it. This stuff is great to do a cut crease or halo eye with since you can skip the concealer step! It’s highly pigmented and goes on over any other eyeshadow with ease.

Style Essentials Cosmic Drops Liquid Highlight

This liquid highlight is my first one and I’m not overwhelmed. However, this was a cheap impulse buy from Rue21, so I’m not too bothered. It’s not a brand I’ve seen anywhere else. The color of this highlighter is a bright, glittery gold. It’s thick in the dropper as well. I’ve found it to be very patchy too. It doesn’t blend out smoothly, just stays in the shape/spot that the original drops were. The best way I’ve found to use this, honestly, is to put it underneath of a powder! It really makes a powder highlight pop. But on it’s own I don’t like the way it sits on my face.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Voyager

I know I talked about a Maybelline Superstay matte ink in a recent haul but this SHADE. It’s an exact dupe for the Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Miss Conduct. Those dark red plum colors are extremely hard to find a good formula for. My first one didn’t stay on my lips. Miss Conduct refused to stay in the lines and ALSO didn’t stay on. This one will stay on FOREVER. Sweat, drinks, food, etc. And absolutely no transfer. It’s insane. I love it.

Makeup Revolution Hyaluronic Fix Spray

I’m so excited about this product. For real. I wanted to get this earlier so when I got my refill of my favorite primer I decided to grab this. And I’m super impressed. I do have dry skin so having something moisturizing to finish up everything would be great. It definitely holds at least as well as my L’Oreal Infallible and is around $5 cheaper, so that’s a huge bonus! The only thing I don’t love about this spray is the smell. It’s got a slightly strange smell overall.

*I’m not doing a whole FabFitFun box review but these items came in my Fall box this year. I decided to review them in the month that I received them!
