As I’ve been building my makeup collection, I’ve found quite a few items that are trying to be more than one thing at a time. These products definitely range from excellent to not so great. But they are all quite ambitious in their claims!
Check out these hybrid beauty products.
Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler
This one is a fairly simple and logical mixture: a detangling spray mixed with a heat protectant/prep spray. It does both of its jobs admirably, and as a bonus smells like tea. It’s probably one of my favorite products on this list.
The Better Skin Co. Lava Magik
A cleanser, scrub, mask mixture is highly ambitious if nothing else. From my experience, I’d say that as a cleanser it’s a little rough. Maybe super oily skin could benefit from it as a regular cleanser, but it’s a bit too harsh overall for that to be a really valid claim. It’s excellent as a once a week scrub or mask/scrub though! And again, it smells really good. This one is extremely citrusy.
Physician’s Formula The Perfect Matcha 3-in-1 Melting Cleansing Balm
A dupe for the Farmacy Green Clean, this product claims to be a makeup remover, cleanser, and moisturizer all in one step. I’d say that it really only performs the first one well. It’s perfect for the first step in a double cleanse style routine, particularly if you’re looking for a more budget friendly alternative to the Farmacy Green Clean. In theory you could use it as a cleanser too, but it doesn’t leave your skin feeling super clean alone either. And it’s too greasy to use as a moisturizer alone.
Zatik Relieve Eye Serum
This serum claims to be a serum, a primer, and a makeup remover. I’ve never found it to be particularly spectacular at removing makeup, but it’s a fairly solid serum. As a primer, it actually excels the most. You end up with a very sticky base for your foundation to sit on. However, this product is organic and natural, and thus doesn’t last very long once opened.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
While this one may be a bit cheating, it does claim to be both a mask and a moisturizer. Using it as a moisturizer is a lot easier for me because of it’s very liquid consistency. It just feels strange to let it sit on your face without rubbing it in. It’s a great dry skin moisturizer though!
Physician’s Formula Tinted Lip Treatment
How this ended up being the only makeup product on this list I’m not sure. But it’s both a lipstick/color product and a lip balm. It does a fairly decent job at both, actually. The color payoff is fairly opaque, though it obviously doesn’t last very well. It also sits comfortably on the lips like a thick balm does. If you’re not a fan of really thick, vaseline/Blistex style lip balms, this may not be up your alley. But it’s great to keep in your purse for if you need a wash of color.
So there we have it, some unique hybrid products from my collection. What are your favorite multi-use products? Let me know in the comments!
