So I have a shopping problem… But then, at least I’m not alone! I was having a rough day the other day and I decided to go to Walgreens and check out their makeup selection to see if I could find anything good. The answer, by the way, was yes! I found some great new items, and I’m super stoked to tell you about them!
Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Eyeshadow Primer
Overall this is a good eyeshadow primer. It doesn’t have coverage, but it is tinted slightly, which I like. It works just as well as the other one I’ve used recently. It does a really good job holding my shadow on from what I’ve seen. I will say it doesn’t get tacky as quickly as I’m used to. This primer needs a moment or two to dry down. I mean, in general, it does what it says it will do.
Wet N Wild Glitter Singles in Brass and Spiked
These were awful. Absolutely awful. These looked like glitter you could buy and apply on the lid with a glitter primer. But no. The glitter is suspended in a weird Vasaline-like substance that doesn’t do anything other than take off glitter primer and eyeshadow underneath. It transfers all over the place, and takes forever to get off. The glitter gets everywhere and refuses to stay on your eyes. The only good I have to say about these is that I’m glad they were buy one get one free- and that I only paid $0.99 for the one.
elf Corrective Concealer Palette
This is decent for the price point, but not great. It comes with a yellow, purple, blue, and green color correcting shades. There’s very little color pigment in them, they’re mostly white. They’re also very greasy. They slip and slide all over my skin, but don’t actually absorb no matter what I use (beautyblender, fingers, brush). It doesn’t do a great job of actually correcting my redness and dark circles. It’s not horrific, but my search for my holy grail color corrector will continue.
Profusion Cosmetics Blush Palette
This is probably one of my favorite purchases. It’s an 8 color blush palette that costed me $5. Every one of the blushes has excellent pigment thus far, and they blend out beautifully on my skin. One of the shades is a gorgeous highlight too! A soft champagne shade that’s soooo glowy and pigmented! There’s a mix of matte, satin, and shimmer blushes, which gives me options for different looks and different days. I was leery of this brand, but I’m super excited about this blush and can’t wait to try more from this brand!
Bare Minerals BarePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation in Cashmere
This was one of my TJ Maxx finds. So far I’m really impressed! This is my first high end foundation and thus far I’m definitely seeing some quality difference. The coverage is a strong medium, but can be built up to very close to full coverage. This shade is really good for me, though if I bought it outright I’d probably get something a touch cooler. It doesn’t play well with silicone primers though, which is a bit of a letdown since that’s mostly what I have. Easy fix though, just get a new primer! I love the pump design, it usually takes me 2-2.5 pumps to cover my whole face with decent coverage.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Ashton
This was another TJ Maxx find. Ashton is a terracotta brown shade that is a great fall/winter color! The lipstick holds up well, and doesn’t transfer once dry. It dries down fairly quickly as well. It’s a matte finish, but doesn’t completely wreck my lips. It didn’t completely hold up during a meal, but it held up better than anything else had before it. My other favorite thing about it is that it doesn’t bleed. At all.
